Caribbean Blues 40
I wrote the song ‘Caribbean Blues’ when I was 27 years old. I had never been to the Caribbean or out of the country for that matter! The company I worked for at the time had a Presidents Club event in Cancun, Mexico. I was one of the few service people to elected to join the Presidents Club winners (Sales Folk).
When I found out I was going, I was excited and spent time researching the area and its history. I ended up writing the song before my trip there!
I was inspired by the Caribbean so my song ‘Caribbean Blues’, happened.
This version was intended to get it as close to what I heard in my head when I first wrote it and it's pretty darn close!
I had help from Bob Akers playing slide guitar and lead acoustic guitar. Shenon Bone helped with background vocals and I managed to do the rest!
You can find it on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music and lot's other online music platforms! I hope you'll give it a listen!
Caribbean Blues Lyrics
I'm making my way to the coast of Caribbean
waters that have seen the shifting of continents.
The tropic of cancer is rising before me
and at 90 degrees, what do you see?
Caribbean blues are shinin' on me
I'll run through the ruins chasing the Mayan kings
they'll tell me what has been and I tell them what could be.
It's a longitude attitude, a place for discovery.
Then my soul fly’s to sea.
Now, how can it be, Caribbean blues are shinin' on me
A tale of the ocean is rippling in the tide
the currents run deep as the water moves by.
Across the sea is a pattern of blue.
Come along with me. Now, what do you see?
Caribbean blues are shinin' on me.
Blue, Blue, Blue - Blue, Blue Blue, Caribbean Blue!
